Hello...
Ride Jamey Ride is an intiative approach to awareness developed by Jamey Mixson. Jamey will continue riding his bicycle raising awareness for Youth Literacy.
The next ride begins in the Portland, Maine area spanning 1800+ miles down the Eastern Coast of the US to Miami Becah . The expectation is to travel 50 to 75 miles per day until reaching Miami Beach, Florida. On this journey Jamey will cross through 14 U.S. states and the District of Columbia "DC".
Ride Jamey Ride is a bicycle trip to the edge. Join me as I push myself to physical (and maybe) mental limits while raising awareness for Youth Literacy. This is a bike riding adventure.
"I am a bike rider plain and simple. I have always had a passion for cycling as well as an amazing zest for life".
NOW is a wonderful time to expand and pursue my personal and humanitarian interest. I, Jamey, have been riding bicycles my entire life. Starting on BMX bicycles I quickly moved up to the 10 speed format. The movie Breaking Away kinda put it in perspective for me. I too am individual from a small town where my interest in cycling was seen as very left-brained. I'd ride for hours not really understanding that I was developing the endurance of a professional athlete. Over the years I have competed in a number of cycling events both professionally and for charitiable causes. Bike riding is my sport of choice. I suggest it to many people looking for better ways to relieve stress and maintain their bodies. I RIDE LIKE THE WIND. It has been a long time personal goal of mine to ride across the United States.
I donate my time to SERVICE as often as I am able. To enhance a child's person growth is a blessing to and for me. If ONE kid hears me on any give day, I have done my job successfully. Coming from a small troubled town myself, I have seen first hand how childrens dreams are easily lost without an ongoing effort. My dreams, my aspirations, the values instilled by my family have been too strong for short coming. To this day, I continue giving all that I am day to day.
The Goal is to raise awareness for Youth Literacy a plague to our commutities.
WE NEED OUR HELP!
Time to get off the couch, out of that chair and do something. Complain all you want but until you PERSONALLY do something your voice is a WASTE.
Our youth deserve a fighting chance to be all they can be. And that push needs to start early. By arming children with good reading and writing skills, we support smarter life choices overall. Let's ban together ensuring we have children that became educated and intelligent adult highly capable of successful lives. Youth Literacy is a key elemental driver of future leaders in any genres. Let's help our children by embracing them. Sit a child down, read with them, teach them something new. School is not the ONLY place children should learn. There are numerous programs set up to help us help ourselves grow and evolve. Our futures continue to depend on the children we produce. Let's make sure OUR children are the brightest ever.
Educating families is key to important food and health choices that allow a child's mind to grow and expand. Taking our children for walks, bike rides, swimming, or any countless number of physical activities speak volumes to how much we care about their welfare. And for the record "WALKING COST NOTHING". LET'S GET MOVING. A host of negative effects are the results of Childhood Obesity: type 2 Diabetes, low self esteem, depression, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol to name a few. Almost all healthcare providers, civic and elected officials feel that Childhood Obesity needs to be conquered.
